Monica Davis is a fourth grade teacher at Forest Heights Stem Academy (FHSA). She is a native of Louisiana, but relocated to Arkansas the ‘Natural State’ in her primary years. In 2001, she received her B.A. in Liberal Arts Studies with minors in Education and Psychology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Harding University in 2009. In 2015, Davis earned a second Master’s of Science in Gifted, Talented, and Creative Education from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Davis previously taught at Geyer Springs Gifted and Talented Academy. She is the Co-founder and President of Aviate Through Knowledge Productions, LLC (ATK). In addition, she is an adjunct instructor at Arkansas Baptist College, where she teachers Financial Literacy. Davis is a strong advocate for educational youth services and social empowerment for diverse populations.
Her professional interests include promoting creative educational best practices, community life skills, and strengthening professional development in academia. She has actively served on the Little Rock School District’s textbook adoption committee, literacy and math curriculum mapping committees, grade level chair teacher, Arkansas Education Association (AEA) presenter, AIMM mentor for Arkansas Department of Education, facilitator for the 21st Century Summer Enrichment Technology Camp, and Math Journeys Research Summer Program.
Davis currently serves as a marriage ministry leader and has worked as youth teacher at her local church. Recently, she has become the vice president of the Oxford Valley Neighborhood Association. Davis is married to historian and author, Edmond Davis and has one phenomenal son named Kalon. In her diminutive free time she enjoys traveling, bike riding, playing guitar, writing, creative graphic designs, zumba, and spending time with her family.
